3 Things Every Young Christian Must Know

As it is no longer a news that everyone of us are created for a purpose and we must live our lives with this consciousness; finding out what and how to achieve this, following every parameter for the actualization of our purpose.

Salvation is one important way many come into this light. But even after being saved, many still live their lives misplacing priorities and losing the essence of salvation.

Salvation is the pathway for the  journey that takes us to the desired place God has designed for us. Between is a process.

This process might not be sometimes desirable but it is the place of making and rebirthing to become all that God has created us to be as we walk through the journey of life.

All well and good….

How then does a young Christian find his or her path after subscribing to this journey? Or what should be the priority of a young believer?

Some of these things are not categorically taught on the pulpit and some people learn them after being burnt and left with scars from several errors, but either ways…

1. You are saved to fulfill your God given purpose.

We hear a lot of purpose this, purpose that everywhere these days, but doesn’t change the fact that some people will still probably not know what it means or how to go about it.

What then is purpose?

  • It is the original plan of God for your existence.
  • It is a blue print of how your life journey should turn out: what you should be doing and how you should be doing it, who you should be talking to….
  • It is your God given assignment.
Jeremiah 1:5 says “Before I formed thee I knew thee, before thou came out of the womb, I sanctified thee and ordained thee a prophet unto nations”

Here, God was talking to Jeremiah. Does this mean everybody is a prophet since it’s the word of God and we should live our lives learning from the word?

No, everyone is not called to be a prophet. But there’s a plan God had in mind while he was forming you. Which will lead me to the second point.

2. You need the word of God to grow. And that’s where you also find out purpose – From God!

2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction….

So at this early stage, we do not know so much, we need to be taught, to be guided, to be equipped, to be corrected, to purge our conscience and how we used to think was the best way to live our lives.

Let’s paint a picture of a baby who has just been given birth to and the mother refuses to give breast milk:

  • The growth of the child will be affected.
  • The psychological and biological make up of the child might also be affected.
  • The child will definitely be malnourished.
  • His growing process will be slowed down: the child who ought to be walking by one might not even crawl at that age.

These are examples. But it’s the same with our Christian journey. We grow through fellowshipping with the word and the Holy Spirit.

Moreso, you don’t find purpose from what others do or say or think. It is first from the God of purpose Himself. Other people didn’t create you. No matter how much your Pastor preaches to you, you must go back to God to ask what really it is.

These days, people do things because other people are doing it. While some people have established and found theirs, others start cloning it to be theirs. There’s a place of supporting other peoples’ but it doesn’t make the vision yours. You have to find yours.

One of the lessons the Holy Spirit taught me is that “Purpose is not just in doing, it is first in the place of fellowship”

That hit me so hard cause at that time I was thinking about what I’m meant to be doing… Bla Bla.

The real deal is, “It is in the place of fellowship” From the abundance from the place of fellowship, we begin to do.

Was that simple enough?

I hope I haven’t lost you?

3. It is so not the time for relationship (dating, courtship… etc)

That’s if you’re not married anyway.

I wish I knew this before now, I would have done so many things differently. But it’s better late than never. I know about the pressure and influence that comes from these area.

So many people get into relationship because every other person around them are in a relationship or because they need security of some sort. Especially if the person is a perceived born again Christian.

I’m sorry…. But no matter how born again or spiritual the person is, you also need to know God for yourself. And that is definitely not the time to be entangled in a love affair.

Some things are lawful, but not all things are expedient (like entirely important at that time).

The energy we’re suppose to be using to pant after God is divided with so many thoughts.

This way, we put the last things first and first things last.

In my father’s words, “How I wish young people can just be so passionate and lost in purpose, having no time for frivolities, discipline themselves to achieve success”

This is so true! And I’m glad I’m learning this now. Smiles… I’m  just 22+, a quick random fact there.

I had to change the number on the title from 2 to 3 cause these are very important. The list is actually endless, but I will stop here.

You know I share with you everything that is worthwhile that I’m learning on my journey. So we’re still here together.

To be continued…..

Much love  😍

Maureen.
